Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy helps children develop functional skills to become more independent in all areas of their lives.  If a child is having difficulty with a daily activity, an OT can help!

Children who benefit from occupational therapy can face challenges in any of the following areas:

  • Fine Motor Skills: Dexterity and coordination of the small muscles needed to turn pages of a book, button a shirt, or coordinate using a feeding/writing utensil.

  • Gross Motor Skills: Coordination of large muscles needed to participate in active play or sports.

  • Executive Functioning: Planning, organizing, and sequencing steps as needed to complete a school project or follow a morning routine.

  • Emotional Regulation: Regulate emotions to match the activity that the child is engaged in and social surroundings.

  • Feeding: Tolerating new food tastes and textures to increase health and participation in family mealtime.

  • Social Participation: Cooperation with others needed to engage in social play and navigating social situations.

  • Sensory Processing: Responding to input from the environment or from internal senses and managing behavior appropriately.
